Eversheds Sutherland Advised Harper James On LDC’s Private Equity Investment
Eversheds Sutherland Advised Harper James On LDC’s Private Equity Investment
Eversheds Sutherland advised Harper James, a full-service commercial law firm, on its investment from LDC, the private equity arm of Lloyds Banking Group.
Founded in 2014, Harper James provides tailored legal support to SMEs across the UK. The firm has supported over 6,500 clients and now comprises a team of more than 140 professionals.
LDC is backing the firm’s management team, led by Founder and CEO Toby Harper, to support its continued organic growth, expand its technology-enabled service model, and pursue complementary acquisitions to broaden service offerings and client value.
Eversheds Sutherland advised on all aspects of the transaction. The team was led by Jon Gill (Partner, Corporate Finance) and Chris Archer (Principal Associate, Corporate Finance), with support from Rebecca Felton (Associate, Corporate), Catherine Jones (Principal Associate, Banking), Amanda Smith (Legal Director, Employment), and Colin Askew (Partner, Tax).
The investment was led by LDC’s West Midlands team, including Chris Handy (Partner and Head of West Midlands), and Investment Directors Karen Mann and Matt Newbold. Following the transaction, Chris Handy and Karen Mann will join the Harper James board as Non-Executive Directors, alongside Steve Weller, who will serve as Non-Executive Chairman, bringing deep board-level experience from his work with other private equity-backed businesses, including The Barrister Group.
