Herbert Smith Freehills advised Mitsui & Co., Ltd. on low-carbon offtake arrangements for landmark Blue Point ammonia project
Herbert Smith Freehills has advised Mitsui & Co., Ltd. on low-carbon offtake and related CCS arrangements for the Blue Point low-carbon ammonia project in Louisiana, USA.
The Blue Point project, developed by a joint venture between Mitsui & Co., Ltd. and its partners CF Industries and JERA Co., Inc., will establish the world’s largest low-carbon ammonia production facility, with an annual production capacity of approximately 1.4 million metric tons.
The Herbert Smith Freehills team was led by Lachlan Clancy (Partner), and included Anthony Patten (Partner, Global Sector Co-Lead, Energy), Adelaide Luke (Partner, Head of Competition, Asia), Connie Ye (Senior Associate), Marcus Lyons (Senior Associate), and Julia Hong (Associate).
