Rajah & Tann Singapore Advised VietJet On US$3.8 Billion Rolls-Royce Engine Deal
Rajah & Tann Singapore advised VietJet on US$3.8 billion Rolls-Royce engine deal
The leading regional law firm, Rajah & Tann Singapore, assisted VietJet in the signing of agreements for 92 Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines valued at US$3.8 billion, one of the largest engine orders globally in 2025. The signing ceremony took place at the UK Prime Minister’s Office in England, in the presence of Vietnam’s General Secretary To Lam and the UK Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Vietnam, highlighting the diplomatic and strategic importance of the transaction.
These engines will power VietJet’s Airbus A330neo wide-body aircraft, enabling direct flights to Europe and further expanding the airline’s global network. This transaction marks a landmark aviation deal and a new chapter in regional connectivity.
"We’re delighted to support our client in one of the largest aviation asset orders this year. Southeast Asia’s aviation sector is catching up post-pandemic, and this major order reflects the region’s rapid fleet growth—led by economies like Vietnam." – Paul Ng (Head of Aviation)
The Rajah & Tann Singapore deal team was led by Paul Ng (Head of Aviation), with support from Justin Lee (Partner), Nicholas Yeo (Associate), and Nguyen Minh-Chau (Senior Legal Executive).
