A&O Shearman Advised Societe Generale And Citibank On EUR500 Million Facility For ENGIE’s Wind Projects

A&O Shearman Advised Societe Generale And Citibank On EUR500 Million Facility For ENGIE’s Wind Projects
This is the first financing for ENGIE involving an OECD export credit agency as also the first facility covered by EIFO to the French utility market.
A&O Shearman has advised Societe Generale and Citibank in arranging a EUR500m facility for ENGIE, a global leader in low-carbon energy and services. The Export and Investment Fund of Denmark (EIFO) covers the facility which aims to support many onshore wind energy projects across the globe.
This is the first financing for ENGIE involving an OECD export credit agency. It is also the first facility covered by EIFO to the French utility market. The aim is to co-finance a total capacity of over 1 GW across various projects, contributing to ENGIE's commitment to speeding up global energy transition.
Amine Bourabiat, partner at A&O Shearman, reportedly commented: "We are delighted to have contributed to this landmark transaction for ENGIE, together with Societe Generale and Citibank. This transaction strengthens ENGIE’s relationships with institutions committed to the energy transition and also diversifies its sources of financing."
The A&O Shearman team was led by partner Amine Bourabiat, along with Alexia Legrand and Ludmila Faïd.
