Dentons advised NEPI Rockcastle on €60 million green financing in a shopping city project
Dentons advised NEPI Rockcastle on €60 million green financing in a shopping city project
Dentons, the world's largest global law firm, provided legal advice to NEPI Rockcastle, a leading investor and developer of shopping centers in Central and Eastern Europe, on a €60 million green financing for the Ploiesti Shopping City from a group of lenders led by BRD Groupe Société Générale.
Dentons, a global law firm, managed and coordinated the financing transaction from structuring to completion. The legal team was led by Partner Simona Marin, head of the banking and finance practice in Bucharest, and included associates from the firm's banking and finance, and real estate teams.
Marin was assisted by banking and finance senior associate Stefi Ionescu and associate Alin Serea, real estate partner Bogdan Papandopol, senior associate Luiza Onofrei and associate Isabela Gheorghe in Bucharest, together with banking and finance partner Marcel Janssen and associate Iris van Noort in Amsterdam.
The €60 million loan is a green financing loan, meeting the criteria of "substantial contribution to mitigating climate risks". The financed property holds a "BREEAM In-Use" sustainable certification with an "Excellent" qualification and a Class A energy performance certificate.
"This new financing in 'green format' is another project that strengthens the Group's liquidity at attractive market terms and reflects our long-term commitment towards sustainability. I am grateful to the passionate people making this project happen, and I take this opportunity to thank the great professionals within our internal team and the teams of our lenders and advisors. Dentons, as our legal advisors, proved once again their unparalleled skillset, supporting us from the inception to the completion of the transaction," Eliza Predoiu, CFO of NEPI Rockcastle, said.
Simona Marin stated that the Dantons' legal team is honoured to have assisted NEPI Rockcastle in yet another transaction on the Romanian market, an important project that is aligned with Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles.
"This transaction highlights Dentons' capabilities in green financing and our commitment to supporting clients with projects which will help create a more sustainable future for the next generations in Romania and worldwide," Marin added.
