Eversheds Sutherland Advised Magrabi Retail Group On Acquisition Of Kefan Optics In Kuwait
Eversheds Sutherland has advised MAGRABi Retail Group, the Middle East’s leading eyewear retailer, on its acquisition of Kefan Optics, a prominent optical retailer based in Kuwait.
This significant acquisition establishes MAGRABi Retail Group as a leading market player in Kuwait, expanding its presence with the addition of 37 Kefan Optics stores. By the end of 2025, MAGRABi’s network is expected to exceed 350 stores across the region. This strategic M&A expansion further strengthens the Group’s position as a key market share holder in the seven countries where it operates: Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, and Egypt.
Completion of the transaction remains subject to the satisfaction of commercial and regulatory conditions, including approval from the Kuwait Competition Protection Authority.
The Eversheds Sutherland team was led by Zeid D. Hanania (Partner) and Steve Jennings (Partner), with support from Philip Smith (Associate). Walid Salib (Partner) and AlAnoud Basfar, LLM LPC LLB (Trainee) advised on Saudi Arabian law matters. ASAR Legal provided Kuwaiti law advice.
