Squire Patton Boggs Advised APEM Group on Sale to Spanish Company Applus+
Squire Patton Boggs has advised the management team of APEM Group, a global environmental consultancy firm, on a definitive agreement to sell the company to Applus+, a global leader in testing, inspection and certification, for a consideration of c. £335m. The agreement will lead to the creation of a new global Environmental Services business headed by Leah McGimpsey, CEO of APEM Group. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to close before year end.
UK-based APEM Group provides independent environmental consultancy and expert scientific advice to a wide range of industries including water, renewables, infrastructure, power and utilities, ports and harbors, as well as to regulators and governments across the UK, Ireland, Australia, the Middle East and the US.
Spanish company Applus+ is a worldwide leader in the testing, inspection and certification sector. The acquisition expands Applus+ into the high-growth environmental consultancy space, adding scale, expertise, superior margins and substantial value creation potential.
The Squire Patton Boggs team was led by Ben Squires (Partner) and Calum Thom (Director).
