Adam Moncrieff Joins Orrick As Partner In Singapore To Strengthen Energy And Infrastructure Practice

Adam Moncrieff Joins Orrick as Partner in Singapore to Strengthen Energy and Infrastructure Practice
U.S. law firm Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP has announced the appointment of Adam Moncrieff as a partner in its Singapore office, continuing its strategic expansion in the region. Moncrieff joins from A&O Shearman and will relocate from Vietnam to Singapore.
Moncrieff brings over 30 years of experience in Asia, advising on large-scale and complex energy and infrastructure projects. His expertise spans across the natural gas value chain—including upstream natural gas, liquefied natural gas (LNG), and gas-to-power—as well as renewable energy and energy transition projects across Southeast Asia.
His clientele includes major Japanese companies and development banks such as JBIC and NEXI, along with the Export-Import Bank of Korea, International Finance Corporation, Asian Development Bank, and several regional conglomerates across Vietnam, Singapore, Thailand, and the broader Southeast Asian region. His recent work includes advising developers and lenders on BOT and next-generation gas thermal power projects in Vietnam, as well as renewable energy initiatives throughout ASEAN countries.
This marks Orrick’s third partner-level hire from A&O Shearman in Singapore within the past year, following the appointments of project finance experts Michael Tardif and Ari Bessendorf. Orrick has now recruited six lawyers from the merged firm in Singapore, with additional hires expected.
Giji John, a member of Orrick’s global management committee, said
"We’re thrilled to add another top-ranked energy projects advisor with deep experience in natural gas – a cornerstone of Asia’s energy market – as well as renewables and cross-border energy. With the additions of Adam, Michael, and Ari to our existing platform, we have the resources to handle the most complex projects in traditional energy combined with unmatched experience in clean energy solutions."
Karthik Kumar, Orrick's Singapore office leader, said, "It's a transformational moment here in Singapore, and our team is uniquely positioned to help clients address opportunities across all energy assets and markets, from the largest LNG projects to the most novel PPAs, to support manufacturing and data centre development. Adam’s addition gives us unparalleled depth in a market where energy demand continues to outpace supply."
Orrick launched its Singapore office in 2021 and currently has nine lawyers, including six partners.
