Addleshaw Goddard Welcomes Tomas Gärdfors as Partner in Energy Transition Finance
The major international law firm Addleshaw Goddard has announced the lateral hire of Tomas Gärdfors as a Partner in its Finance & Projects Division in London, further strengthening the firm’s capabilities in energy transition and critical infrastructure finance. Tomas joins the firm from Baker Botts, effective December 10, 2025.
With more than 30 years of experience, Tomas Gärdfors is widely regarded as one of the market’s leading debt finance lawyers operating in the energy transition space. He advises global debt funds, financial institutions, sponsors, and borrowers on complex debt structures, with a particular focus on infrastructure critical to Europe’s transition to net zero, as well as digital connectivity and data infrastructure.
Recognised for his strong Nordic market expertise, Tomas Gärdfors brings deep cross-border capability across the UK, EMEA, and Latin America. His experience spans renewable energy, transmission assets, battery storage, synthetic and alternative fuels, and key infrastructure assets, notably in the data and digital infrastructure sectors.
Tomas Gärdfors will join Addleshaw Goddard as Head of Transition Finance, working closely with Lee Shankland-Gort, Head of ESG Firmwide and Head of Social, Sustainable and Green Finance. Commenting on the appointment, Lee Shankland-Gort said,
