Amaia Rivas joins Clifford Chance as partner to strengthen international arbitration practice in Madrid
Global law firm Clifford Chance has appointed Amaia Rivas as a partner in its Litigation & Dispute Resolution team, focusing on international arbitration in its Madrid office. She will be joining the firm in the coming weeks.
Amaia, a State Attorney of the Kingdom of Spain (currently on leave of absence), brings over a decade of experience in international arbitration. She has represented the Kingdom of Spain in 42 investment arbitrations under ICSID, SCC, and UNCITRAL rules as part of the International Arbitration team of the Sub Directorate for Litigation for the State Attorney's Office. Her previous roles include Legal Director of FROB (Executive Resolution Authority), member of the State Attorney's Office before the National Court, and Chief State Lawyer in Córdoba.
Before joining Clifford Chance, Amaia led the Public Law and Regulated Sectors department at Pinsent Masons in Madrid, focusing on international investment and commercial disputes. She was also recognized among the top fifty female arbitration lawyers in 2025 by Jus Connect.
