A&O Shearman Appoints David Foster as Regional Managing Partner
Effective 01 May, initially, he will serve a term of two years
A&O Shearman, the combined firm of Allen & Overy and Shearman & Sterling has assigned the role of regional managing partner to David Foster for the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa.
Foster’s appointment comes after the recent election of Khalid Garousha as senior partner of the firm. Since 2020, Garousha has been leading A&O’s Middle East and Turkey operations.
On the new addition, Garousha remarked, “Foster epitomizes the unrivalled quality and excellence of A&O Shearman in the region. He will, undoubtedly lead our combined regional practice to even greater success. From 01 May, the Middle East and Turkey regions will also be joined by our colleagues in Morocco and South Africa with Foster assuming the responsibility as the managing partner.”
At this, Foster stated, “I thank Garousha for his leadership and commitment to deepening relationships with clients and for helping to build our Middle East and Turkey practice to the formidable position. I feel privileged to be part of the firm’s regional team and am excited to have the opportunity to lead one of the region’s most highly regarded full-service legal practices.
He added, “We will bring together the global breadth of the world’s third-largest integrated law firm, with the deep local expertise of over 200 lawyers in the META region. I look forward to continue working with our clients to grow our regional practice to even greater heights.”
With 4,000 lawyers and 800 partners across 29 countries, A&O Shearman aims to become an industry powerhouse with comprehensive global competence.
