Ashurst Appoints Former Simmons & Simmons Arijit Tiwari as Partner in Singapore
The global law firm, Ashurst, has appointed Arijit Tiwari to its Global Loans & Global Markets practice in Singapore. He will join as a Partner, subject to regulatory approval.
Tiwari brings over 15 years of experience in derivatives and structured products, having worked across leading international law firms and financial institutions. His practice focuses on structured products and derivatives, advising on structured notes, warrants, and certificates linked to indices, equities, funds, commodities, and credit. He also advises on algorithmic indices and structured exposure through OTC swaps.
His regulatory expertise includes advising on PRIIPs and MiFID II implementation, as well as BRRD contract remediation exercises. He is also known for combining legal expertise with technology, having developed proprietary automation solutions to improve efficiency in high-volume structured product transactions.
Prior to joining Ashurst, Tiwari served as Managing Associate at Simmons & Simmons in Singapore. He has also held roles at J.P. Morgan in London as Vice President and Assistant General Counsel, and worked with Clifford Chance LLP and Simmons & Simmons across London and Singapore.
Jean Woo, Singapore Office Managing Partner, said the appointment enhances,
"We are pleased to welcome Ari to our Singapore office. His experience in structured products and derivatives complements our existing capabilities. His practice will enhance our bench strength in Singapore and support client needs across the ASEAN region."
Patrick Phua, Asia Head of Global Loans & Global Markets, added that Tiwari’s experience in structured finance and his technology-driven approach will support clients on complex cross-border transactions.
"Ari's appointment strengthens our practice in Asia. His experience advising financial institutions on structured finance transactions, combined with his technology-focused approach to legal service delivery, will enable us to support clients effectively on complex cross-border matters. We look forward to collaborating with Ari to grow our practice across the region."
Commenting on his appointment, Tiwari said,
"I am excited to join Ashurst and collaborate with colleagues globally. The firm's commitment to innovation and its strong finance platform provides an excellent opportunity to deliver value to clients. I look forward to working with the team to grow the practice and contribute to the firm's strategic vision."
Tiwari holds a B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) degree from NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad. The appointment reflects Ashurst’s continued focus on strengthening its finance and capital markets capabilities across Asia.
Ashurst is a global law firm headquartered in London, currently undergoing a significant transformation through a planned merger with Perkins Coie to create a firm with projected annual revenues of $2.7 billion. In the Middle East, the firm has more than doubled its partner count to over 20 in the last two years, establishing itself as a dominant player in energy, infrastructure, and digital economy sectors.
