Atsumi & Sakai Bolsters Finance Practice with Hire of Taku Sonoura from Nishimura

Atsumi & Sakai (A&S), a law firm in Japan, has appointed Taku Sonoura as a new partner. Sonoura, who specializes in finance, joined A&S from Nishimura & Asahi.

Atsumi & Sakai (A&S) has added Taku Sonoura as its fifth lateral partner hire in Tokyo within the past 10 months, expanding its presence in the city.

The previous hires include Harukuni Ito, Mitsuru Misawa, and Kazuki Ishihara as partners, who specialise in emerging areas such as data protection, risk advisory, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) law.

In addition, Fumiyo Doi, a corporate practitioner, joined A&S last month from an in-house position at GE Healthcare.

Taku Sonoura, who has over 20 years of experience, specializes in advising on a variety of legal matters such as banking, structured finance, securitization, trust, tax planning, real estate finance, and REIT. He began his legal career at Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu in 2001 and later joined Nishimura & Asahi in 2014.
