Baker McKenzie Strengthens Transactional Practice with Addition of Nick Benson in London
Baker McKenzie has announced the addition of Nick Benson as a Partner in the Firm’s Private Equity team in London, reinforcing its global transactional capabilities and expanding its investment funds expertise.
Nick joins the Firm from Latham & Watkins, bringing with him over 25 years of experience advising sponsors and investors on the formation and operation of funds across the private capital spectrum. His expertise spans GP-led and LP-led secondaries, fund sponsor transactions, and customised investment mandates. Recognised consistently by Chambers, The Legal 500, and other international publications, Nick is widely regarded as one of the leading investment funds lawyers in the market.
Laurent Fessmann and Karl Egbert, Co-Chairs of Baker McKenzie’s Global Funds Group, said,
“Nick Benson is a fantastic addition to our private funds formation global practice and to our transactional practice group at large. His impressive experience advising sponsors and investors in the private equity fund and secondaries space will enhance our ability to meet our clients' increasing needs for support with their complex, cross-border matters.”
Ed Poulton, London Managing Partner, said,
“Nick's appointment after other recent hires in London demonstrates our commitment to growing our bench strength in the City to support our clients both in London and across our global network, allowing us to continue delivering a high-quality service for our clients, advising on their most complex transactions.”
Commenting on his new role, Nick Benson said,
“I am excited by the opportunity to join Baker McKenzie’s market-leading, full-service platform and work with colleagues across its unmatched global network to build a distinctive and compelling offering for clients throughout the fund lifecycle.”
Nick will join the Firm on 1 July 2025 and will be based in its London office.
