Mishcon de Reya LLP Appoints Bushra Ahmed as Partner and Head of Disputes, Middle East
The prominent British international law firm, Mishcon de Reya LLP has strengthened its Middle East disputes capability with the appointment of Bushra Ahmed as Partner and Head of Disputes, Middle East in Dubai. She joins the firm following more than a decade leading a high-profile disputes practice in the DIFC and wider UAE market.
Bushra Ahmed with over 20 years of experience in commercial litigation and international arbitration. Her practice spans complex commercial litigation, cross-border asset recovery, shareholder disputes, employment claims, and international arbitration, often involving urgent injunctive relief and multi-jurisdictional enforcement strategies. She has been involved in precedent-setting cases in the DIFC, including the first successful financial mis-selling claim (Khorafi v Sarasin Alpen), early litigation funding cases (Khorafi v Vannin Capital), the first judicial consideration of Article 19 penalty payments (Asif Adil), and one of the first fully litigated cryptocurrency disputes (Huobi v Tabarak).
In addition to her legal practice, Bushra Ahmed serves as an arbitrator, sits on the Advisory Board of the Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC), and has recently been appointed President of the UAE chapter of the International Law Association (ILA). She has also been recognised as DIFC Lawyers’ Lawyer of the Year (2015), is a Legal 500 EMEA Recommended Lawyer, and ranked by Chambers & Partners in dispute resolution and employment.
Bushra Ahmed joins Mishcon de Reya LLP from KBH Ltd, where she was Partner and Head of Dispute Resolution, and previously practised as a barrister at Ely Place Chambers in London.
Bushra Ahmed holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB Hons) from the University of London and completed the Bar Vocational Course at Manchester University.
Her appointment reflects Mishcon de Reya LLP’s continued investment in high-stakes contentious capability, private capital disputes, and technology-driven sectors across the Middle East.
