Cassandra Wee Joins Herbert Smith Freehills to Lead Integrated Energy Practice in Australia
Herbert Smith Freehills has announced the appointment of Cassandra Wee as a partner in its Sydney office, further strengthening the firm’s energy sector capabilities across the Asia-Pacific region.
Cassandra leads an integrated energy practice with proven expertise across the electricity, gas, and carbon sectors. She regularly advises clients on energy project development, structuring, transactions, offtake arrangements, and regulatory matters. Her practice spans Australia nationally and supports clients operating across the broader Asia-Pacific market.
Known for her pragmatic, technically grounded approach, Cassandra offers incisive, commercially relevant advice informed by a deep understanding of the industry and its legal frameworks. Her expertise covers renewable energy projects, grid connections, energy storage, power purchase agreements, energy retail, and emerging energy technologies including hydrogen, e-mobility, and electric vehicles. She also advises on natural gas transport and storage, LNG sale and purchase, joint ventures, farm-ins, acquisitions and divestments, carbon neutral initiatives, green products, carbon offsets, and carbon capture and storage.
