China’s WeiHeng Law Firm And Malaysia’s Tan Norizan Establish Cross-Jurisdictional Legal Collaboration
China’s WeiHeng Law Firm and Malaysia’s Tan Norizan Establish Cross-Jurisdictional Legal Collaboration
China’s WeiHeng Law Firm (W&H Law Firm) and Malaysian legal practice Tan Norizan & Associates have entered into a strategic cross-jurisdictional collaboration to support bilateral investment and provide integrated legal solutions to businesses operating between both markets.
The partnership was formalised following a forum on cross-border investment hosted at W&H Law Firm’s Beijing headquarters, where both firms discussed regulatory frameworks, compliance considerations, and emerging investment trends between China and Malaysia.
The collaboration comes at a time when bilateral trade between the two nations reached a record USD 212.04 billion in 2024, marking the 16th year in which China remains Malaysia’s largest trading partner. Under this alliance, both firms will jointly advise Chinese companies expanding into Malaysia on corporate compliance, market entry, and real estate transactions, while supporting Malaysian investors entering China through regulatory guidance and business setup strategies.
“Malaysia and China continue to enjoy strong economic ties, and this partnership allows us to offer clients a unified cross-border solution,”
said Vincent Ong, Partner at Tan Norizan & Associates.
Founded in 1995, W&H Law Firm has grown to over 5,000 lawyers across 55 domestic and international offices. As part of the collaboration, the firm will establish a Malaysia Desk in Kuala Lumpur to facilitate cross-border services.
“We are deepening our Southeast Asian presence at a time when Chinese companies are accelerating investments into the region,”
said Zhang Xiaowei, Founder and Director of W&H Law Firm’s National Management Committee.
Tan Norizan & Associates, established in 2000, employs more than 80 lawyers and advises on corporate advisory, banking, litigation, and real estate transactions. Alongside legal services, the partnership will extend to professional training programmes and policy exchange initiatives to enhance cross-border business cooperation between the firms.
WeiHeng (W&H) Law Firm is a large, comprehensive international law firm headquartered in Beijing, China, established in 1995. The firm has over 4,500 lawyers across more than 50 domestic and international offices, providing a wide range of legal services including corporate and M&A, real estate, dispute resolution, and finance and securities. It is known for its strong professional team, many of whom have experience from prestigious domestic and international law schools and previous roles in government, multinational corporations, and financial institutions.
Tan Norizan & Associates ("Tanoriz") is a prominent, full-service Malaysian law firm established in 2002 and based in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. The firm has grown substantially, currently boasting a team of around 84 lawyers and 12 pupils, and a total professional team of 195 members.
