Clyde & Co Appoints Angela Caramaschi As Partner To Strengthen Energy And Corporate Practice In Africa
The global law firm, Clyde & Co, has appointed Angela Caramaschi as Partner in its Tanzania office, where she joins from Shell, marking a strategic addition to the firm’s growing corporate and energy practice.
Angela Caramaschi brings extensive international experience across the corporate and energy sectors. Her appointment forms part of Clyde & Co’s broader investment in strengthening its global energy offering and enhancing its ability to advise clients across the full energy value chain, while reinforcing its on-ground presence in Africa.
Her practice focuses on upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas matters, along with complex multi-jurisdictional projects, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, project development, and regulatory compliance. She will play a key role in integrating the firm’s Africa energy capabilities with its global energy and construction practice, while also advising on corporate aspects of mining and extractives transactions.
Prior to joining Clyde & Co, she spent over a decade with Shell, most recently serving as Head of Legal at Shell Exploration and Production Tanzania Ltd, where she led legal strategy for upstream oil and gas operations. She has also held roles as Legal Counsel across Shell’s international business, including a stint in the Netherlands, focusing on commercial and new business development matters. Earlier in her career, she worked with Bridgehouse Partners LLP in London.
Commenting on the appointment, Peter Kasanda, Africa Executive Committee Chair, said,
“We are delighted to welcome Angela to the firm. Her appointment reflects our continued investment in expanding our energy and corporate capabilities across Africa, enabling us to better support clients operating in the region’s evolving energy landscape. Her experience and global perspective will be instrumental in advising on complex energy matters.”
Angela Caramaschi added,
“I am pleased to join Clyde & Co at a time of significant growth in Africa’s energy sector. The firm’s global platform and integrated approach provide a strong foundation to support clients on complex, cross-border energy projects and energy transition initiatives. I look forward to working with colleagues across the network to further strengthen the firm’s capabilities.”
Angela Caramaschi holds an LLM in International Legal Practice and completed her Legal Practice Course from The College of Law, London. She also holds an LLB (Hons) from the University of Huddersfield.
She was also recognised as East Africa General Counsel of the Year – Oil and Gas at the Legal Era Africa Law Awards 2025, reflecting her outstanding contribution to the energy sector.
Her appointment forms part of Clyde & Co’s continued global expansion of its corporate and energy practice, alongside several recent strategic partner hires across key international markets.
