Colin Liew Joins Providence Law Asia as Head of International Litigation
Colin Liew has been appointed as the Head of International Litigation at Providence Law Asia, effective February 3, 2025. Previously with Duxton Hill Chambers, Colin brings extensive expertise in commercial fraud, legal privilege, and international arbitration, strengthening the firm's capabilities in handling complex cross-border disputes.
Recognized by leading legal directories as one of Singapore’s top disputes lawyers, Colin is praised as a “superb advocate and well-rounded practitioner” known for his “mastery of the facts and evidence” in intricate fraud-related cases. His reputation for being responsive and easy to work with has made him a trusted advisor in high-stakes litigation.
With a strong track record in multi-jurisdictional disputes, Colin has played a pivotal role in landmark cases that have set precedents on novel points of law. He has represented law firms, multinational corporations, and high-net-worth individuals, often handling challenging matters against Senior or King’s Counsel. Notably, Colin is the author of Legal Professional Privilege—the only dedicated reference work on this subject frequently cited by the Singapore Courts. Beyond his legal practice, Colin is actively involved in law reform initiatives and has provided pro bono legal assistance to several non-governmental organizations, showcasing his commitment to both the profession and the wider community.
In his new role, Colin will oversee Providence Law Asia’s expanding international litigation practice, managing multi-jurisdictional disputes that require a sophisticated, strategic approach. His leadership is expected to enhance the firm’s standing as a premier provider of international litigation services.
Commenting on his appointment, Abraham Vergis, Managing Director of Providence Law Asia, stated: “Colin’s remarkable expertise, leadership, and reputation in international litigation will be invaluable as we continue to handle complex cross-border disputes. His addition marks a significant milestone in our mission to provide world-class legal solutions.”
Colin added: “I am excited to be joining Providence Law Asia, which has a fantastic track record in multi-jurisdictional disputes. I look forward to working with an exceptionally talented team of sophisticated litigators, and continuing to achieve excellent results for clients facing challenging situations in transnational litigation.”
Colin’s appointment is expected to bolster Providence Law Asia’s capabilities in handling intricate multi-jurisdictional litigation, further reinforcing its leadership in high-profile cross- border disputes.
