Deacons Strengthens Asia Pacific Corporate Team with Jeff Lee Appointment
Hong Kong’s premier independent law firm, Deacons, has appointed Jeff Lee as a Partner, effective 2 January 2026. Cynthia Chung and Machiuanna Chu, Co-Heads of the Corporate Commercial Group at Deacons, highlighted that this strategic lateral hire further enhances the firm’s ability to deliver exceptional service to clients across Hong Kong and the Asia Pacific region.
Jeff Lee brings extensive experience in cross-border corporate and commercial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, strategic investments, joint ventures, debt financing, and corporate restructurings. His clients include major corporate entities, state-owned enterprises, private equity funds, financial institutions, and asset managers
Commenting on his appointment, Lee said,
“I am excited to join Deacons' partnership and contribute to its leading corporate commercial practice. The firm's full-service platform in Hong Kong is a powerful asset. I look forward to working with the team to deepen our client relationships and expand our capabilities in key areas such as corporate transactions and strategic investments."
Prior to joining Deacons, Lee spent over 10 years with international US law firms, most recently as Of Counsel at Paul Hastings in Hong Kong. He has also worked with Mayer Brown JSM, where he served as Associate, Trainee Solicitor, and Summer Intern, gaining experience in corporate law, restructuring, bankruptcy and insolvency, real estate finance, and transportation and projects finance.
Lee holds a PCLL in Law from The University of Hong Kong, an LLB in Law from King’s College London, and also studied at The University of Toronto. He completed his high school education at Louis St. Laurent Catholic High School in Alberta.
With this appointment, Deacons reinforces its leadership in corporate commercial practice across the Asia Pacific, strengthening its ability to serve clients with integrated, cross-border solutions while deepening its regional expertise and capabilities.
