Former Sidley Austin Counsel Alan Wong Joins Zhong Lun As Non‑Equity Partner
Former Sidley Austin Counsel Alan Wong Joins Zhong Lun as Non‑Equity Partner
The full-service Chinese multinational law firm, considered a member of China's elite "Red Circle" of legal practices, Zhong Lun Law Firm has strengthened its capital markets practice in Hong Kong with the appointment of Alan Wong as a non‑equity partner at its Hong Kong office.
Alan Wong, formerly counsel at Sidley Austin, is qualified in Hong Kong and New South Wales, Australia. His practice focuses on capital markets transactions, financing, and debt restructuring matters in Hong Kong and overseas, advising financial institutions, credit funds, and a wide range of corporates.
During his career, Alan Wong has represented clients on high-profile transactions, including the HKD8.2 billion (USD1.05 billion) refinancing of The Corniche, a luxury residential development, and a USD40 million royalty-backed financing for Yisheng Biopharma, the first deal of its kind in China’s biopharmaceutical sector, which was selected as one of China Business Law Journal’s Deals of the Year 2022.
Alan Wong joined Sidley Austin in 2019, following his tenure at Hogan Lovells, before moving to Zhong Lun Law Firm.
Alan Wong after join said,
"I am thrilled to share that I have joined Zhong Lun Law Firm LLP as a Partner.
Reflecting on my legal career, which began as a trainee solicitor during the global financial crisis, it has been a profoundly rewarding journey. I am grateful for the mentorship, collaboration, and trust that I have received along the way. I had the privilege of working with exceptional colleagues on groundbreaking matters, particularly on some of the most complex and high-profile financing and restructuring matters in the region. I am now thrilled to bring this experience to Zhong Lun, where I will be partnering with my new colleagues to deliver exceptional results to my clients and to contribute to the firm’s continued success.
Thank you to all my clients and friends for your trust and support. I look forward to the journey ahead!"
This follows Zhong Lun’s earlier senior hire in October 2025, Renee Xiong, also from Sidley Austin, marking the firm’s continued expansion in Hong Kong.
Zhong Lun Law Firm is one of the first partnership law firms in the PRC. With effect from April 17, 2012, it was restructured into a limited liability partnership in accordance with the law. Today, Zhong Lun has established itself as one of the largest full-service law firms in China, with over 390 equity partners and more than 2,500 professionals working across eighteen offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Chengdu, Chongqing, Qingdao, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Haikou, Tokyo, Hong Kong, London, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Almaty.
