Hong Kong Corporate Team at Harneys Strengthened as Alan Au joins as Partner
Alan Au has joined the Hong Kong office of Harneys Westwood & Riegels, a global offshore law firm, to bolster its two-partner corporate team.
Previously an associate at several prominent law firms including Fangda Partners, Shearman & Sterling, Bird & Bird, Robertsons, and Sidley Austin, Au specialises in the capital markets sector, covering a wide range of transactions such as privatisations, IPOs, M&A, public and private equity and debt offerings, SPAC and de-SPAC deals, joint ventures, as well as share option and award schemes.
Prior to becoming a lawyer in 2012, Alan Au worked as a medical specialist at GlaxoSmithKline and Stiefel Laboratories.
His extensive experience in science and pharmaceuticals has enabled him to advise on biotech companies' IPOs, including JW Therapeutics, Hua Medicine, and Frontage Holdings, in Hong Kong.
In addition to his work with biotech companies, Alan Au has advised two buyer consortiums in the privatisation of New Frontier Health and the 51job privatisation from the US stock exchange. His involvement in these transactions led to both being recognized as Deals of the Year by China Business Law Journal in 2022 and 2021, respectively.
