Ibaad Hakim Joins Paul Hastings as Partner to Strengthen Energy & Infrastructure Practice in Abu Dhabi

Paul Hastings Expands Energy & Infrastructure Practice with Ibaad Hakim Joining as Partner in Abu Dhabi
Paul Hastings LLP has announced the appointment of Ibaad Hakim (Partner – Energy & Infrastructure) to its Abu Dhabi office, continuing the firm’s strategic expansion of its global energy and infrastructure platform across the Middle East and Europe. Hakim joins from White & Case, bringing extensive experience advising on high-value oil and gas, infrastructure, and power projects, many of which are project-financed.
Dual-qualified in England & Wales and Pakistan, Hakim’s practice spans the full lifecycle of construction and engineering projects—from procurement strategy and contract drafting to dispute resolution. He advises sponsors, lenders, government bodies, contractors, and consultants, and is well-versed in diverse procurement models, including EPC/turnkey, construction management, and collaborative contracting under both standard form and bespoke agreements.
Rob Freedman (Co-Chair, Energy & Infrastructure Practice) stated, “Ibaad brings strong experience advising on some of the region’s most significant infrastructure and energy mandates. His addition elevates our ability to advise clients on complex, cross-border matters and bolsters our commitment to premier legal services in the UAE and beyond.”
Din Eshanov (Co-Head, Abu Dhabi Office) added, “George and I have worked closely with Ibaad for several years. His experience complements the existing capabilities of our new team at Paul Hastings. His arrival strengthens the Abu Dhabi-based practice and our broader UAE strategy.”
Hakim will collaborate with George Kazakov and Xavier Petet, who recently joined the Abu Dhabi and Paris offices respectively, as well as with the firm’s U.S. energy and infrastructure team led by Rob Freedman and Gregory Tan. Together, they will focus on delivering legal services to clients across the UAE, Europe, Asia, and the U.S.
Ibaad Hakim said, “It’s an exciting time to join Paul Hastings as the firm builds a top-tier global energy and infrastructure platform. I look forward to supporting our clients across the region on some of the most transformative and innovative projects in the sector.”
