Invest Bank in Sharjah, UAE Appoints Rakan Shiyab as General Counsel to Lead Legal Function
Invest Bank has announced the appointment of Rakan Shiyab as its new General Counsel, reinforcing the bank’s focus on strategic growth, leadership, and strong corporate governance.
Shiyab brings over two decades of experience in banking and finance, strategic transactions, commercial litigation, and executive advisory. He most recently served as Head of Legal, Global Banking and Commercial Banking, MENAP at Standard Chartered in Dubai. His prior experience also includes roles at Al Tamimi & Company and HSBC Middle East, giving him deep expertise across the UAE and wider regional markets.
At Invest Bank, Shiyab will be responsible for leading the legal function, shaping the bank’s corporate culture, and providing strategic guidance across business operations.
Commenting on the appointment, Edris Al Rafi, CEO of Invest Bank, said,
"This is more than a legal appointment; it is a strategic investment in how we think, operate, and lead. Rakan brings a rare combination of sharp legal intellect and commercial pragmatism. His leadership will help us move faster, think clearer, and operate with the confidence that only great legal judgment can deliver."
Founded in 1975, Invest Bank is a public shareholding company headquartered in Sharjah, UAE, with its shares publicly traded on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX). In 2019, the Government of Sharjah became a strategic partner and majority shareholder, investing AED 1.115 billion in the bank.
