Jan Schubert Joins Baker McKenzie As Partner In Frankfurt To Strengthen Global M&A Practice
Jan Schubert Joins Baker McKenzie as Partner in Frankfurt to Strengthen Global M&A Practice
Baker McKenzie has announced the appointment of Jan Schubert as a partner in its Frankfurt office, effective June 1, 2025. This move marks a strategic step in strengthening the firm’s global M&A and Private Equity capabilities, particularly in Germany and across the EMEA region.
Jan Schubert, who joins from Gibson Dunn, brings significant expertise in domestic and cross-border corporate transactions, leveraged buyouts for private equity funds, restructurings, and joint ventures. He regularly advises private equity and investment firms, as well as strategic buyers across sectors such as technology, e-commerce, healthcare, chemicals, and manufacturing.
Commenting on the appointment, Berthold Hummel (Co-Head of the Corporate Practice, Germany) said, “We are delighted to welcome Jan to Baker McKenzie. His strong background in financial sponsor work significantly enhances our ability to advise domestic and global private equity clients on their most complex, cross-border M&A deals.”
David Allen (Co-Head of the European Corporate Group) said, “Jan is a greatly respected PE lawyer in Germany. He adds further depth to our PE capabilities in EMEA, where we offer a unique blend of local excellence and financial market strength.”
On joining the firm, Jan Schubert said, “The Firm's global platform, cross-practice capabilities, and seamless service across jurisdictions are a perfect fit for my clients’ international needs. I look forward to contributing to the Firm's continued growth in Germany and beyond.”
The appointment of Jan Schubert follows a series of strategic partner hires by Baker McKenzie in Germany, including corporate M&A partners Dirk Horcher (Munich) and Daniel Dehghanian (Düsseldorf), as well as Conrad Ruppel and Johannes Baumann (Frankfurt), and restructuring experts Andrea Soprano, Joachim Ponseck, and Artur Swierczok.
Matthias Töke, Partner at Baker McKenzie said,
" Dr. Jan Schubert's addition to our Private Equity practice is the result of our seamless translation of a long-term strategy to grow our Private Equity footprint in the market and I think Jan will make a substantial impact on this journey. Warmest welcome, Jan!"
Karen Guch, Global Chair of Private Equity at Baker & McKenzie said,
"Really excited to welcome Jan to our team"
