Rhys McWhirter Joins Latham & Watkins as Partner to Strengthen Asia Tech and AI Practice
The leading global law firm Latham & Watkins has announced the appointment of Rhys McWhirter as a partner in the firm’s Data & Technology Transactions and Artificial Intelligence Practices. He joins the Hong Kong office, further strengthening the firm's growing corporate and tech-focused capabilities across the Asia-Pacific region.
McWhirter brings over a decade of experience advising multinational corporations, regulatory bodies, financial institutions, and technology companies on a range of complex commercial, IP, data privacy, and AI-related matters. His expertise spans strategic alliances, digital transformation projects, and high-stakes technology-driven transactions.

McWhirter joins Latham & Watkins from Eversheds Sutherland. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Organic Chemistry and a Bachelor of Laws from Macquarie University, and earned his Diploma in Legal Practice from The College of Law in 2012.
