Mark Thompson Joins Baker McKenzie as Partner to Strengthen London Transactional Team
Leading global law firm Baker McKenzie has strengthened its Private Equity team in London with the appointment of Mark Thompson as partner. Mark, a seasoned private equity real estate (PERE) and transactional lawyer, joins from Mishcon de Reya, bringing extensive experience in advising on a range of real estate investments and private equity transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, disposals and joint ventures.

Mark will join the Firm on Monday 11 August and will be based in its London office.
This appointment is part of Baker McKenzie’s continued drive to expand its transactional capabilities by attracting senior talent in key financial centres. Recent additions include Investment Funds Partner Nick Benson, Energy & Infrastructure Partner James Wyatt, Corporate M&A Partner Michal Berkner (all London) and Private Equity Partner Jan Schubert (Germany).
So far in 2024, the Firm has welcomed a number of prominent hires globally, including Eric Schwartzman in San Francisco; a 17-strong elite transactional team in Los Angeles (with two partners also covering Houston and Washington, D.C.); Daniel Dehghanian in Dusseldorf; Tobias Knapp in New York; Colleen Lee in Palo Alto; Colin Bowes-Carlson in Chicago; Dirk Horcher in Munich; Chris Milliken in Vietnam; and a high-profile M&A team led by Shirin Tang and Ang Lip Kian in Singapore.
