Morrison Foerster Expands Asia Practice with the Addition of Xuanyi Liu as Partner in Singapore

Morrison Foerster Expands Asia Practice with the Addition of Xuanyi Liu as Partner in Singapore
Morrison Foerster has announced the addition of Xuanyi Liu as a Partner in its Private Funds Group in Singapore, further strengthening its presence in Asia. Liu joins the firm from Gibson Dunn & Crutcher, where he served as a Senior Associate across the firm's Singapore and Hong Kong offices.
With Liu’s arrival, Morrison Foerster now has nine partners in Singapore. This marks the firm’s second strategic hire in Asia within a week, following the recent addition of Naoya Shiota in Tokyo. Earlier this year, Xiaoxi Lin in Hong Kong and Scott Jalowayski in Singapore also joined the firm.
Xuanyi Liu brings extensive experience in private equity, venture capital, credit, real estate, climate, and infrastructure funds, as well as in separate accounts, clubs, platforms, and co-investment programs. He is particularly well-regarded for his work on secondaries and liquidity solutions for both GPs and LPs, including GP-led secondaries and traditional LP portfolio sales.
Stephanie Thomas, Chair of Morrison Foerster’s Global Private Funds Group, said,
“We are very pleased to welcome Xuanyi. He has an impressive breadth of experience, and we see a major opportunity for him to collaborate with our corporate, private equity, real estate, and finance colleagues to support our clients in the region.”
Tabitha Saw, Co-Managing Partner of the firm’s Singapore office, said,
“Xuanyi's significant experience bolsters our firm's credentials in the Asia region, positioning MoFo as a full-cycle private capital solutions provider.”
