Pinsent Masons Announces Middle East Promotions Of Richard Ashmore, Gregg Hammond And Nick Tolley
Pinsent Masons announces Middle East promotions of Richard Ashmore, Gregg Hammond and Nick Tolley
The multinational law firm Pinsent Masons has announced its latest round of partner promotions in the Middle East, with Richard Ashmore (Partner – Energy & Infrastructure) in Doha, Qatar, and Gregg Hammond (Partner – Financial Services) in Dubai, UAE, among the 23 lawyers elevated to the firm’s global partnership effective 1 May 2026.
In addition, Nick Tolley (Legal Director) has been promoted as Legal Director in Dubai, further strengthening the firm’s regional leadership.
Commenting on the appointments, Catherine Workman (Head of Middle East) said,
“the energy and financial services sectors continue to be significant areas for growth for our teams in the Middle East. We are therefore delighted to welcome two new partners to strengthen our ability to support clients in these markets”.
Experience
Richard Ashmore has been associated with Pinsent Masons for over seven years, most recently serving as Senior Associate in Doha. Prior to this, he worked at Herbert Smith Freehills for over a decade, advising on complex energy and infrastructure matters across London and Dubai.
Gregg Hammond brings extensive experience in financial services and dispute resolution. Prior to his promotion, he served as Legal Director at Pinsent Masons and previously held leadership roles at Ince and Clyde & Co, where he advised on banking, insurance, arbitration, and commercial disputes.
Nick Tolley, now Legal Director in Dubai, is part of the firm’s Construction Advisory & Disputes team. A qualified barrister, he has significant experience advising on complex international infrastructure disputes across the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Iraq, and the UAE, with particular expertise in FIDIC-based contracts and multi-jurisdictional matters.
Conclusion
These appointments highlight Pinsent Masons’ continued focus on strengthening its presence in the Middle East, particularly in high-growth sectors such as energy, infrastructure, and financial services. The promotions reinforce the firm’s ability to support clients on complex cross-border matters while expanding its regional and global capabilities.
