Reed Smith Expands Corporate Practice With Addition Of Angela Hagerman In Houston
Global law firm Reed Smith has announced the addition of Angela Hagerman as a Partner in its Global Corporate Group, based in the firm’s Houston office. Hagerman joins from Kirkland & Ellis, where she was a debt finance partner.
Angela’s practice is focused on leveraged finance, particularly in the energy and natural resources and technology sectors. She brings extensive experience advising private equity funds, portfolio companies, financial institutions, and alternative capital providers in complex domestic and cross-border financings. Her transactional practice also includes structured products, digital securities, and crypto-related offerings.
Matt Mohn, co-chair of Reed Smith’s Global Corporate Group and chair of its U.S. Corporate Group, said,
"Her addition is part of our effort to strategically expand our debt financing capabilities to support our growing private equity and corporate transactional practice. Angela’s knowledge of structured products and securities offerings will also expand our bespoke work in the crypto and digital securities spaces."
Chris Watt, Managing Partner of the Houston office, said,
"Angela’s experience in the energy industry will be an asset to our clients both in Houston and globally. She has worked extensively on transactions in the renewables sector, as well as on midstream oil and gas deals."
Hagerman shared her enthusiasm about the move, said,
"I am thrilled to join Reed Smith and contribute to their growing private credit platform. It's a terrific group and we're ready to hit the ground running!"
Angela’s arrival continues the firm’s momentum in Houston, following the addition of Annie Peetz, also from Kirkland & Ellis, who has played a leading role in the firm’s expanding crypto and bitcoin legal advisory portfolio.
Hagerman holds a J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law, an M.A. cum laude from Wake Forest University, and a B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
