Renato Antonini, Eva Monard, And Byron Maniatis Join Hogan Lovells To Strengthen EU Trade Capabilities In Brussels
Renato Antonini, Eva Monard, and Byron Maniatis join Hogan Lovells to strengthen EU trade capabilities in Brussels
The global law firm Hogan Lovells has strengthened its EU trade capabilities with the addition of Renato Antonini, Eva Monard, and Byron Maniatis as partners in its Brussels office. The team joins from U.S. law firm Steptoe, where Renato Antonini headed the EU Trade practice.
Renato Antonini, a highly ranked EU trade lawyer with 25 years of experience, advises on EU anti-dumping, anti-subsidy and safeguard investigations, sanctions and trade controls, customs, WTO law, and novel trade barriers such as the EU Foreign Subsidies Regulation. He represents clients across industries including steel manufacturing, chemicals, energy, and financial services, as well as sovereign states, and has secured landmark judgments before the EU Courts.
Eva Monard focuses on EU trade and customs law, WTO disputes, trade remedies, EU sanctions and trade controls, EU internal market law, and trade barriers driven by social and environmental considerations. Recognized by Chambers as "probably the best trade lawyer of her generation," she represents corporates, trade associations, and governments before EU institutions, customs authorities, and the EU Courts.
Byron Maniatis, who began his career at Hogan Lovells in 2012 and later joined Renato and Eva’s team, advises on trade compliance, trade remedies, international trade agreements, dispute settlement, and trade policy, regularly working with the European Commission, EU Courts, and national authorities.
Commenting on the hires, Jonathan Stoel and Ajay Kuntamukkala, Co-Practice Area Leaders of Hogan Lovells’ Global Trade and Investment practice, said, “These hires in Brussels reinforce our commitment to clients navigating international trade and investment issues in Europe and globally. Against a complex geopolitical backdrop, our team is uniquely positioned to handle the most challenging cross-border mandates. With more than 75 professionals across every major market, over 50 years of experience, and the recent addition of four former U.S. Government officials in Washington, D.C., we offer clients unmatched depth and the ability to connect seamlessly with our regulatory, corporate, and litigation practices worldwide.”
Renato Antonini said, “Hogan Lovells offers a global platform with the strength and depth to handle the most complex trade and regulatory mandates that corporates face in the current geopolitical context. We are very excited to join a team with such an outstanding reputation and culture, and to work alongside respected colleagues in the firm's Brussels office and beyond, to help clients navigate the rapidly evolving EU trade and global compliance landscape.”
The team’s arrival further enhances Hogan Lovells’ position as a leading firm for international trade, regulatory, and compliance matters in Europe and globally. With four partners, the Brussels EU trade group is now one of the top teams in Europe’s capital, enabling the firm to better meet the diverse needs of clients worldwide.
