Shashwat Tewary Joins Cooley as Partner in Singapore to Boost Capital Markets Practice

Shashwat Tewary Joins Cooley as Partner in Singapore to Boost Capital Markets Practice
U.S. law firm Cooley has appointed Shashwat Tewary as a Partner in its capital markets practice in Singapore. Shashwat joins from Sidley Austin, where he was a counsel, and brings over 15 years of experience across IPOs, bond issuances, MTN programs, and liability management.
Tewary has advised clients in diverse sectors including technology, healthcare, aviation, infrastructure, and real estate, with a strong track record in India-focused transactions—notably advising on India’s first REIT IPO and first InvIT IPO.
He began his career at Clifford Chance, where he spent 12 years working on complex capital markets deals.
“Shashwat's experience strengthens our capabilities in the expanding Indian capital markets arena,” said Sonya Erickson, Partner and Global Chair of Cooley’s Business Department.
Charlie Kim, Partner and Co-chair of the firm’s Global Capital Markets Practice, said, “He brings deep experience and connections across the Indian and Southeast Asian capital markets ecosystem.”
With this appointment, Cooley’s Singapore office now includes five partners, reflecting the firm’s ongoing expansion across Southeast Asia.
