Shin & Kim Strengthens Litigation And Corporate Investigation Practice With Key Appointments

Shin & Kim Strengthens Litigation And Corporate Investigation Practice With Key Appointments
Shin & Kim has bolstered its litigation, corporate investigations, and financial compliance expertise with the addition of three former judges and a former chief prosecutor. The new appointments enhance the firm’s capabilities in handling high-stakes disputes, regulatory compliance, and family and inheritance matters.
Joo Yeon Jo, previously chief prosecutor of the anti-corruption investigation division 2 at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office, has joined the firm as a partner in its criminal defense practice. With 21 years of experience as a public prosecutor in Korea, he specializes in corporate and financial investigations, including violations of the Capital Markets Act, embezzlement, misappropriation, accounting fraud, and bribery cases involving major Korean conglomerates. He is also admitted to practice law in Korea and Illinois.
Former Seoul High Court judges Chanyoung Cho and Sejong Kim have joined Shin & Kim’s litigation practice. Cho, who served as a judge for nine years, brings extensive experience in labor, administrative, and tax litigation, including cases handled on the Jeonju Panel of the Gwangju High Court. Kim, known for his expertise in finance-related disputes, has adjudicated cases involving damages claims due to false statements in business reports, shareholder meeting disputes, and corporate matters related to post-contract value depreciation.
Yanghee Kwon, a seasoned expert in family and inheritance law, has joined the firm’s family and inheritance disputes team. She previously served as a presiding judge at the Seoul Family Court and as the head of the Anyang branch of the Suwon Family Court, where she oversaw cases related to divorce, property division, inheritance, and adult guardianship.
These strategic hires reinforce Shin & Kim’s position as a leading firm in litigation, regulatory compliance, and family law.
