Simmons & Simmons Appoints Kenneth Hui As Regulatory Head For Hong Kong
Simmons & Simmons Appoints Kenneth Hui As Regulatory Head For Hong Kong
Simmons & Simmons, a prominent UK law firm, has appointed Kenneth Hui as the new regulatory head for Hong Kong and Greater China. Hui joins from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, where he served as counsel.
Bringing over 14 years of experience in financial services regulation, Hui is well-versed in fintech, digital assets, and transaction structuring. His expertise includes advising banks, broker-dealers, and fintech companies. His impressive career also includes roles at Latham & Watkins, Linklaters, and the legacy Allen & Overy.
This strategic move comes as Hong Kong strives to position itself as a virtual asset hub, recently implementing a new regulatory regime for digital asset exchanges. In a statement, Jason Valoti, a partner in Simmons' Financial Markets group in Singapore, emphasized that Hui's proficiency in artificial intelligence and digital assets would "significantly bolster" the firm's capabilities in Hong Kong.
Additionally, Simmons & Simmons has recently enhanced its tech and Financial Disputes team in Singapore by hiring Lijun Chui as a Partner from Bird & Bird.
