Stuart Dutson Joins Stephenson Harwood As Partner To Bolster International Arbitration Practice

Stuart Dutson Joins Stephenson Harwood as Partner to Bolster International Arbitration Practice
Stephenson Harwood LLP has announced the addition of Stuart Dutson as a Partner in its International Arbitration practice in London, further enhancing the firm's global dispute resolution capabilities. Stuart joins from Simmons & Simmons, where he served as Global Co-Head of the International Arbitration practice.
With over 25 years of experience, Stuart has advised on complex and high-stakes arbitrations across England, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Australia. He has particular expertise in commercial and investment treaty disputes conducted under various arbitral rules and is noted for his sectoral strengths in TMT, energy, infrastructure, aviation, and financial services.
Justin McClelland, Co-Head of Commercial Litigation at Stephenson Harwood, said,
“We're really pleased to be adding a lawyer of Stuart's seniority and quality to our ranks. His investor-state experience broadens our offering – while his considerable experience in areas such as Technology, Energy Transition and Transportation reflects the firm's strategic priorities. With London remaining a global leader in international arbitration, and the demand for arbitration continuing to rise, adding to our bench strength in this area is key.”
Kamal Shah, Head of International Arbitration, said,
"Adding a lawyer of Stuart's pedigree is a real coup for the team given the synergies between our practices. I have known and respected Stuart for over a decade… His practice, approach and values align perfectly with ours, and we're thrilled to welcome him to the team.”
Stephenson Harwood's international arbitration practice is widely recognised for handling high-profile and complex arbitrations and related enforcement proceedings across jurisdictions. The firm continues to grow its team in alignment with rising global demand for arbitration and London’s position as a leading arbitration hub.
