The prominent and historic Egyptian law firm, Zaki Hashem, Attorneys at Law has announced the appointment of Karim Azmi as Partner, effective 1 January 2026. Azmi will focus on hospitality, real estate, corporate and commercial matters, as well as regional and cross-border transactions.
Karim Azmi brings over 27 years of experience across Egypt, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia, with a proven track record in building and managing strong legal departments, corporate governance, and compliance functions. He has held senior positions including Chief Legal Officer at Cenomi Centers (Saudi Arabia), General Counsel at Abu Dhabi National Hotels Company (UAE), Head of Legal and Compliance at Spar International UAE, and Head of Legal (Shopping Malls) at Majid Al Futtaim Properties, Dubai. His extensive regional experience strengthens the firm’s capacity to advise on complex cross-border and international transactions.

His notable work includes advising Marriott International on hotel management agreements for the Mena House Hotel and Ritz-Carlton Hotel, representing the Westin Hotels Group in management and termination negotiations, and advising CEMEX Egypt on major M&A integrations in Sudan and the UAE.
From 2010 to 2014, Karim served as a Lecturer of Sports Law on the FIFA/CIES Management Programme in association with Cairo University and authored several publications on sports law, covering anti-doping regulations and the transfer of players and athletes.
Karim holds an LL.B. from Alexandria University, an LL.M. from Cairo University in association with Université Paris Dauphine, and an Executive MBA from INSEAD Business School, France.
Zaki Hashem, Attorneys at Law welcomed the appointment, noting that Karim’s regional and Egyptian law expertise will add significant value to clients and strengthen the firm’s advisory capabilities across the MENA region.
