Centivo hires Tara Johnson as General Counsel
Centivo has announced the appointment of Tara Johnson as General Counsel, who will lead the company's legal function and advise on all legal matters in support of Centivo's clients and mem-bers. This would include commercial contracting, data privacy activities and the complex and con-stantly changing healthcare regulatory and compliance environment.
Centivo is a new type of health plan for self-funded employers anchored around pre-eminent pro-viders of value-based care.
"Centivo's significant growth over the past three years, in both number of clients and expanded product offering, has brought with it the need for a seasoned and talented General Counsel with a keen understanding of our industry; both where it's been and where it's going," said Stuart Roth, Centivos's Chief Business Officer. "We are thrilled that Tara, with her deep legal and health plan experience, is now part of our executive leadership team."
Tara has 15 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Prior to joining Centivo, Tara held several legal positions of increasing responsibility at UnitedHealthcare. Most recently she served as Senior Associate General Counsel, Director Regulatory Affairs, working with the company's Northeast commercial business.
In her prior roles with UnitedHealthcare, Tara supported third-party administrator subsidiary, UMR; provider operations; and payment integrity/special investigations. She also held several key legal and business positions at Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield (Rochester, NY).
She began her law career as Assistant District Attorney for Monroe County, New York.
Tara is a 2019 Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Fellow; a 2018 Connecticut Bar Foundation James W. Cooper Fellow; and has received numerous awards and distinctions throughout her career.
