Charles Russell Speechlys adds six partners

Like last year, it has included two women lawyers

Following the latest round of upgrades, one of the top 35 UK law firms, Charles Russell Speechlys (CRS) has added six new partners in the UK, Paris and Zurich. The cohort is a slight step-up from 2021, when the firm appointed five partners.

Bart Peerless, the Senior Partner at Charles Russell Speechlys said, "It is hugely exciting to welcome these individuals into the partnership. These promotions are strongly supportive of the firm's strategy both in the UK and internationally. I look forward to the contribution each of them will make to this in the years ahead."

Three Partners Cara Imbrailo, Mark White and Charlie Ring are based in London. While Imbrailo advises on commercial real estate transactions, White focuses on the acquisition and disposal of commercial property interests. As she got the nod in the real estate team, Ring made up in the financial services and funds practice. He advises clients on private acquisitions and disposals, complex corporate reorganizations, shareholder agreements, investments, and joint ventures.

Guildford-based Partner Richard Flenley joined the UK team. He is a commercially-focused disputes lawyer specializing in real estate and infrastructure disputes. He was also promoted in the real estate disputes practice.

Though last year, all the promotions happened in the UK, this year Alice Martin has joined the Zurich team in the tax trusts and succession department. He advises the elite families and their trustees and family offices on cross-border succession planning combined with the UK tax advice.

Raphaël Bagdassarian joined the corporate tax practice team in Paris and advises clients on a range of French tax issues, including tax restructuring, private equity, venture capital investment and the taxation of the executives.

During the financial year ending 5 April 2021, the firm recorded a revenue rise of 8.6 percent compared to the previous year to £173m as profit per equity partner soared 40.2 percent to hit £533k.

With one of the biggest private client offerings in the UK, over the last year, CRS made a number of partner-level lateral hires across its network of 11 offices. Prominent among them was Tom Henderson, who joined the firm in London as head of trusts from accountancy firm Rawlinson & Hunter, where he established and led the Zurich office.

The firm's international wealth structuring capabilities got a boost with the addition of a four-member strong tax team led by Partner Robert Reymond, all of who joined from the London office of the Canadian firm Stikeman Elliott.

Early this year, led by partner Lisa Wong, the firm also added a family team in Hong Kong from the local firm Boase Cohen & Collins.
