Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas Welcomes Varun Kalsi as Director – Private Client Practice at Singapore Office
Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas (CAM) has announced the appointment of Varun Kalsi as a Director – Private Client Practice, based in the firm’s Singapore office. He joins CAM Singapore in a partnership role, bringing with him over 17 years of experience in private client law, wealth planning, and cross-border investment structuring.
Kalsi is widely regarded as a leading private client expert, advising conglomerates, UHNIs, and families on tax-efficient intergenerational wealth transfer, succession, and investment planning across jurisdictions. His practice includes the use of sophisticated structures such as Singapore Variable Capital Companies (VCCs), bespoke trusts, foundations, and advising on international inheritance and estate tax matters, especially along the India/Gift City-Singapore and India-Middle East corridors.
Prior to joining CAM, Kalsi led the legal and wealth planning functions at Lighthouse Canton, covering markets across Asia, the Middle East, India, and the UK. He is an alumnus of NYU School of Law and was recognised as General Counsel of the Year (India) in the financial services and private credit space in 2023. His extensive expertise also spans corporate, commercial, and real estate legal areas, positioning him as a trusted advisor for end-to-end wealth and investment solutions.
Cyril Shroff, Managing Partner of Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, said, “I am delighted to welcome Varun to our Singapore office. His expertise and experience will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen our operations in Singapore. I am confident that he will drive significant growth and innovation in this key market.”
CAM Singapore was launched in December 2021 as part of the firm’s strategic expansion, positioning itself in Singapore as a hub for Asia-Pacific operations and to better serve its domestic and international clientele.
Varun Kalsi said, "I am elated to join CAM with the aim of building and scaling its Private Client practice across global markets. My primary objective is to efficiently collaborate with Mr. Shroff and other colleagues within both the Private Client and complementary practices while leveraging upon each other's cross-domain expertise towards delivering high-quality advice to our clients."
