UK firm Ashurst has hired Alexander Dmitrenko as a partner in Tokyo. He was head of Asia sanctions in Magic Circle firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.
Dmitrenko, Ashurst's first partner hired in Tokyo in five years. Tracy Whiriskey, joined from Clifford Chance, was the last partner hired prior to this was in July 2016.
Dmitrenko, an adjunct professor also at the Temple Law School, specialises in sanctions, export controls, anti-bribery, anti-money laundering, human rights, cyber security, product liability and other regulatory matters.
Ashurst now has five partners in Tokyo with Dmitrenko joining the firm.
