Former partner at Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas joins Premji Invest
Vardaan Ahluwalia has been appointed as its legal head
Premji Invest, the investment office of Wipro founder Azim Premji, has recently appointed Vardaan Ahluwalia as its legal head. Previously, Ahluwalia was a partner at Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas (CAM).
Commenting on his move into an in-house role, Ahluwalia said he wanted to be "closely involved" in the commercial side of the business." He added, "Even though it is early days, what stands out for me is the responsibility and exposure."
Ahluwalia said that Premji Invest's two lawyer in-house team considered its "external counsel as an extension of our deal team."
He was earlier part of CAMs insolvency and bankruptcy team. Feeling the need for "a deeper understanding of finance and financial modeling to be a well-rounded commercial lawyer," he took time off from the firm to obtain a Masters degree in finance at the Oxford University.
Ahluwalia's move to Premji Invest coincided with his return from the UK.
