Hogan Lovells bolsters financial services regulatory practice as Eimear O'Brien joins as Partner
She was working as a chief legal officer at Birchal Ireland
Hogan Lovells has hired Eimear O'Brien to strengthen its global regulatory practice. She rejoins as a partner in the firm's 18-month-old Dublin office,
Eoin O Connor, the managing partner at the Dublin office of Hogan Lovells said, "O'Brien's knowledge of the central bank's approach to non-contentious and investigatory matters will be helpful in guiding and advising clients on interactions with the regulator. Her appointment will enable us to further capitalize on opportunities with clients seeking EU regulatory advice and foster relationships with several fintech start-ups and unicorns."
O'Brien previously worked for Hogan Lovells in its London financial services practice between 2015 and 2017. Her experience spans a range of financial regulatory issues, including fintech and banking regulations, and retail financial services.
She has been with the Australian equity crowdfunding business Birchal's Irish unit since February. Prior to that, she was a legal director at DLA Piper heading and helping to establish its financial services regulation practice. For two years, she served at the Central Bank of Ireland as a legal and policy manager for its enforcement advisory division. She also worked with Matheson and Berwin Leighton Paisner.
Meanwhile, the firm has also hired financial regulatory associate Bill Laffan from Walkers to further expand its Dublin office.
