Richard Perks Appointed Partner At Ropes & Gray To Strengthen Asia Private Equity Offering
U.S. law firm Ropes & Gray LLP has appointed Richard Perks as a partner in its private equity practice in Hong Kong, joining from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, where he spent over two decades.
Perks, who became a partner at Freshfields in 2015, brings more than 20 years of experience advising on mergers and acquisitions across Asia, with sector expertise spanning life sciences, financial services, manufacturing, industrials, and technology. Based in Hong Kong, he will maintain a regular presence in Tokyo to support the firm’s Japanese clients.
His notable deals include advising Geely on its $9 billion acquisition of a 9.69% stake in Daimler — the largest-ever Chinese investment in Germany — as well as Midea’s €4.5 billion acquisition of German robotics firm Kuka AG, and representing Permira on its acquisitions of Tricor and Grobest.
