Samir Hossain Becomes General Counsel Of Aditya Birla Capital
In a recent move Aditya Birla Capital Limited (ABCL) announced Samir Hossain as its new General Counsel.
Samir is now part of its senior management with effect from May 13, 2025, the company informed in a regulatory filing to stock exchanges.
The board approved this during a meeting where they also cleared audited financial results for FY25 and a proposal to increase the borrowing limit to 21.65 lakh crore. This move supports ABCL's expansion and governance framework.
Samir has vast experience of 19 years in corporate law, lending, investments, insurance, commercial litigation, and regulatory matters.
Samir joined the company in 2011 and currently holds the position of Executive Vice President and Head - Legal.
In his role, Samir provides strategic legal leadership across various corporate functions and key business verticals within Aditya Birla Capital. His significant legal expertise is a valuable asset to the leadership team, particularly as the company actively expands its financial services footprint and undergoes structural realignments. His contributions are expected to further strengthen the governance and compliance framework of the diversified financial services firm.
The financial services arm of the Aditya Birla Group encompasses businesses such as lending, insurance, asset management, and wealth management.
The company recently concluded the amalgamation of Aditya Birla Finance Ltd. with itself. Additionally, Aditya Birla Capital reported a standalone net profit of ₹2,957 crore for FY25.
During a recent board meeting, plans were approved to raise the overall borrowing limit from ₹1.35 lakh crore to ₹1.65 lakh crore. This increase is proposed through the issuance of various types of non-convertible debentures (NCDs) and is subject to shareholder approval.
