S.K. Honnesh, Former Group General Counsel At Piramal, Joins Kotak Mahindra Bank
In a significant move within the corporate legal realm, S.K. Honnesh, previously the Group General Counsel at Piramal Group, has transitioned to assume the role of Group General Counsel at Kotak Mahindra Bank.
Honnesh, boasting a distinguished career, played a pivotal role at Piramal Group, where he oversaw the legal function across the conglomerate. Joining Piramal in 2013, he swiftly established himself as a key figure in identifying, mitigating, and managing legal risks across various group companies. Furthermore, Honnesh played an integral role in executing numerous corporate transactions, including acquisitions, mergers, sales, and transitions.
Throughout his tenure, Honnesh spearheaded diverse deals and initiatives. Notably, he orchestrated a groundbreaking fund-raising endeavor at Piramal Enterprises Limited (PEL), raising USD 770 million through a Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP) of Compulsorily Convertible Debentures. This achievement marked a significant milestone as the first and largest initiative of its kind by a non-banking company, solidifying Honnesh's reputation as a leader in corporate finance.
Additionally, he facilitated strategic investments in prominent financial services companies such as Shriram Transport and Shriram Capital. Honnesh oversaw the acquisition of product portfolios from esteemed entities like Janssen and Mallinckrodt and played a pivotal role in establishing IndiaRF, the company’s Distressed Asset Platform.
With his transition to Kotak Mahindra Bank, Honnesh brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role as Group General Counsel.
