Vijayalakshmy Malkani Joins Sun Pharma as AVP- Head Trademarks

Vijayalakshmy Malkani, formerly Senior Brand Protection and Foods Counsel at Unilever, has taken on a new role as AVP- Head Trademarks India business, Emerging Markets & Japan at Sun Pharma, a leading specialty generic pharmaceutical company. She commenced her position on December 30, 2024, based in Mumbai.

In her new role, Malkani is responsible for overseeing and managing Sun Pharma’s trademark portfolio across India, Japan, and emerging markets, ensuring comprehensive intellectual property protection for the company and its affiliates.

With over 20 years of experience in intellectual property law, Malkani has extensive expertise in brand protection, enforcement, and litigation. Prior to joining Sun Pharma, she spent more than eight years at Unilever, where she handled trademark portfolios across South Asia, advised on IP licensing, M&A matters, and led strategies for brand protection and litigation.

Her career also includes previous roles as an IP counsel at BIC Cello and Marico, where she was actively involved in managing trademark and copyright portfolios for well-known consumer brands.
