Brightflag acquires Orrick's legal record-keeping system Joinder
Joinder to become an integral part of the company's operations platform
The Dublin-Ireland-based legal spend management startup Brightflag has acquired Joinder, the first company to spin out from Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe's in-house technology lab.
Following the acquisition, Joinder will change its name to Brightflag Workspace. The purchase marks a milestone for the record-keeping system for corporate legal teams as well as the New York-based legal operations company Brightflag that specializes in Artificial Intelligence-powered legal operations solutions.
On the achievement, Brightflag's CEO and co-founder Ian Nolan said, "The feedback from Joinder users unanimously matched our own first impression. It is the most intuitive and impressive collaboration platform designed for legal professionals we have ever seen."
"We are excited to empower corporate legal departments with a best-in-class product that addresses an additional set of legal operations requirements. We are thrilled to be gaining a group of exceptionally talented colleagues in the process," he added.
Joinder was co-founded by former Orrick partner Don Keller, who also served as its CEO. Jim Brock served as the company's chief product officer.
Built by Orrick labs, a team of technologists, the software platform started as an integral system for some of the firm's clients. It then split off as an independent business that aimed to assist corporate legal departments with activities including task and document management into one digital workspace.
