Peloton and iFIT settle pending litigation

As a result of "the settlement of all pending litigation," Peloton Interactive, Inc. (Peloton) and NordicTrack maker iFIT, Inc. (iFIT) released a joint statement Monday. In exchange, "iFIT has agreed to remove certain technology from its products related to leader boards on demand, while Peloton has agreed to license certain iFIT patents related to the remote control."

Several lawsuits involving patent infringement have been filed between Peloton and iFIT over the course of the past few years. The companies have accused each of infringement several times.

iFIT's on-demand fitness classes were the subject of a patent infringement lawsuit filed by Peloton in November 2021. In Peloton's suit, iFIT Functionality never provided live classes [...] or offered its members the opportunity to compete via a leader board prior to the actions giving rise to this suit.

As of April 2021, iFIT's parent company, ICON Health & Fitness, Inc. (ICON), filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Peloton for its Bike+ and associated app. As a key new feature of Peloton's Bike+, iFIT alleged that "ICON's patented automatic control and interactive integrated weight system" were incorporated. Peloton's auto-resistance adjusts the resistance of the bike automatically to match an instructor's instructions. iFIT filed this lawsuit against Peloton for patent infringement for the fourth time.
