Prof. Dr. Heinz Goddar is a distinguished German and European Patent Attorney and a partner at BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT in Munich. Holding a PhD in physics, he combines deep technical expertise with decades of experience in intellectual property law. He is also a European Trade Mark and Design Attorney and serves as a certified mediator and arbitration expert with WIPO since 2006.

Prof. Goddar is an Honorary Professor at the University of Bremen and teaches IP law at Bucerius Law School and the Munich Intellectual Property Law Center (MIPLC). He is a visiting professor at universities in Asia and the U.S.

A past president of LES International (LESI), he continues to serve on the advisory board of LES Germany. He was awarded the prestigious LESI Gold Medal in 2005 and inducted into the IAM IP Hall of Fame in 2014. IAM consistently ranks him among the world’s top 300 IP experts.

He co-edits Trade Secrets Throughout the World and has contributed to A Modern Guide to Patents (Edward Elgar, 2025). Recently, he has joined IP advisory bodies in Saudi Arabia, Korea, and China, underscoring his global influence in IP law.
