Hafidh A. Thani is the Managing Partner at M&CO Legal and a leading Emirati legal practitioner known for his expertise in jurisprudence, legislative drafting, and fintech policy. With a distinguished career spanning corporate, commercial, and entertainment law, he is recognized for his deep understanding of media, technology, and finance. Hafidh is particularly sought after for his ability to develop innovative legal frameworks that ensure compliance while fostering growth and modernization in corporate and commercial environments.
He provides strategic legal guidance to corporations and commercial entities on achieving their financial and market goals through robust legal structures and the establishment of Intellectual Property (IP) rights. His advisory services encompass financial and technological aspects of media, telecommunications, digital platforms, event management, and regulatory compliance. Hafidh’s work reflects a balance between regulatory precision and forward-thinking innovation, making him one of Dubai’s most trusted legal advisors in the fintech and technology sectors.
Throughout his career, Hafidh has been instrumental in shaping policy and infrastructure within the UAE’s financial and media landscape. He has advised major institutions such as the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), Abu Dhabi’s financial free zone, and the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). As the former Head of Legal for Dubai Media Inc. and the DIFC, he played a key role in developing legal frameworks for real estate regulatory transactions and corporate compliance systems.
Hafidh has also contributed to the preservation and protection of UAE cultural and heritage assets through his involvement in drafting preservation laws and advising the Dubai Culture Authority. His contributions have strengthened the legal underpinnings of the country’s creative and cultural sectors while aligning them with international standards.
His areas of practice include corporate and commercial law, banking and finance, property and real estate, media and technology, fintech and digital platforms, and franchising. In addition, he is highly experienced in legislative drafting, policy development, IP litigation, telecommunications, and regulatory design.
Hafidh holds a Master’s Degree in Commercial Law from the University of Melbourne, Australia, obtained in 2004, and an LLB from the Dubai Police Academy, earned in 1998. Fluent in both Arabic and English, Hafidh continues to play a pivotal role in advancing legal innovation and corporate governance in the UAE and beyond.
